We hosted our daughter’s 3rd birthday party at Ella’s Creamery – a 1950s American-themed ice cream parlor located by Legoland in Dubai Parks and Resorts.

I don’t know who was more excited about having a kids birthday party at an ice cream parlor – my daughter who has a huge sweet tooth or the other little 3-year-old boys and girls who were allowed to indulge in quite a lot of ice cream and sweeties.
Our Party Set-Up
The amazing staff at Ella’s Creamery set up a very girlie theme to suit my very girlie daughter with pink helium balloons, delicate white china plates (which thankfully no one broke!), and cute goodie bags.
My mom was in town and she helped me sew these little aprons as party favors for the kids – they were so freaking adorable in them:
Extreme Ice Cream Workshop
The kids arrived and were seated at the party table where they were treated to Ella’s Creamery’s signature Extreme Ice Cream workshop (aka Crazy Shakes).
Each child was given a mason jar to decorate which were later filled with scoops of ice cream and strawberry or chocolate milkshakes.
The staff demonstrated how to first cream the rim of the mason jar with colorful frosting which acted as the glue for marshmallows and other goodies. Then tubs of ice cream were passed around and the parents helped their kids scoop their favorite flavors into the mason jars.
Finally, the kids could choose from a variety of toppings – cotton candy (candy floss), mini wafer cones, whipped cream, and more – to add to the top of their Crazy Shakes. I think it was hard for both kids and parents involved (and me!) to not taste-test as they went along.
When the kids were done with making their Crazy Shakes, we moved them to the back of the ice cream parlor to do some arts and crafts while lunch was being setup.
Food & Cake
We ordered quesadillas (from next door) for the kids’ lunches. To counter the bad ice cream calories, I also made them fruit skewers.
For the adults, we ordered more quesadillas, guacamole and salsa to snack on, in addition to serving Ella’s Creamery coffee and ice cream.
Patricia, manager of Ella’s Creamery and also professional baker extraordinaire, made this gorgeous birthday cake for my daughter:
My husband and his team have worked hard to conceptualize, find investors, and basically build Ella’s Creamery from the ground up so we were very pleased that the concept has become a reality and that this first birthday event at the parlor was well-received by both parents and children.
